Sarasota's most-awarded custom home builder, built on open books and full-time presence
From inland estates to permit-heavy beachfront sites across Florida’s Gulf Coast, Trinity Custom Homes takes on the homes that demand the most in detail and execution, and delivers them with the budget visible at every step, the home modeled months before ground breaks, and a builder on your site every day.
Why we exist
I learned to build from my father. He was old school. He believed quality came from doing the work correctly and doing as much of it as we could with our own hands, so he subcontracted as little of it as he could. My twin brother Jesse and I grew up on his jobsites doing nearly all of it ourselves: digging footers, tying rebar, pouring slabs, setting block, framing walls, setting trusses, hanging windows and drywall, running roofing, siding, and finish carpentry. Almost everything but the mechanical trades. That is how I learned to build, from the ground up.
Jesse and I later started our own rough-framing and finish-carpentry company, and for about a decade we built for many of the other builders in this market. That decade showed me how homes really get built around here, from the inside. I saw the best work in this market and the worst, and I learned exactly what separates them.
Everything we do at Trinity was designed from those two educations: the standard my father held us to, and a decade of seeing this industry from behind the curtain. We built Trinity to give our clients a better experience and better quality than what I saw most of the time out there.
I named the company Trinity for a reason. The Trinity is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and naming the business this way is a daily reminder to me of who I am, who lives in me, and why I believe relationships matter more than transactions. We work the way Colossians 3:23 asks us to: with all our heart, as for the Lord and not for people. You will see that verse on our shirts, and you will feel it in how we treat you, our trade partners, and the home itself.
Our faith is the foundation of Trinity, and it is not a requirement we place on anyone else. We welcome clients and team members of every belief, and we hold all of us to the same standards: integrity, accountability, dignity, stewardship, and excellence. Those are Trinity standards before they are anything else, and they are not negotiable here.
When you build with Trinity, you are not hiring a vendor. You are starting a relationship with people who care about your home as if it were their own.
Mike Cocozza, Founder
Who we build for
Trinity is built to serve a specific client well, and we are honest that we are not built to serve everyone. We do our best work for the client who asks what it takes to do this right, not what it costs to do it cheapest.
The clients we serve best value craftsmanship, honesty, and transparency over the lowest bid. They want a partner rather than a vendor. They understand that a real budget, an honest schedule, and a hard conversation handled early are worth more than an optimistic number that unravels later.
If that is how you think about building your home, we will likely be a great fit. If it is not, we will tell you honestly and point you toward a builder who is. We would rather be the right builder for the right client than the busiest builder in Sarasota.
How Trinity is different
Open books. You see where every dollar sits, at every point in the build. Every line in your budget is visible to you. When a line comes in under, the surplus stays in your budget, where you can see it, available where it is needed next. When a line comes in over, your accumulated contingency covers it openly, and you can see exactly where the money came from and where it went. Most builders keep those numbers to themselves. Ours face you. See what it costs to build a custom home in Sarasota.
Your home is built twice. We build your home before we break ground. Our BIM model runs months ahead of the jobsite, so the selections you make are proven in the model before they are bought, and the ones you have not made yet are carried as honest allowances built on your actual expectations. Our framing is built to a published Trinity standard our trade partners work against, not to a marketing claim.
A builder on your site every day. Every Trinity project has a dedicated builder on site full time. That builder is a hybrid of project manager and superintendent, which means schedules stay on track, the jobsite stays clean, mistakes are caught before they happen, and you are always welcome to visit. Six licensed Florida contractors work on our team, and our in-house carpenters work exclusively on Trinity homes. Inside our process.
We do not blow smoke
We will not take on a project whose budget cannot achieve the vision behind it. We will not hand you an optimistic number to win your business. And when something passes inspection on site but fails in the lab, we dig it out and do it again, even when you would have let it go. None of that is the easy way. It is the way we are willing to stand behind five years from now.
What we value
Five values decide how we hire, how we coach, and how we build.
Strategic. We do the work before the work, planning and modeling to remove surprises before they reach you.
Principled. We hold the line on what is right, even when it costs us, because how we build says as much about us as what we build.
Visionary. We keep improving our people, our process, and our craft until excellence becomes instinct.
Elite. We do the hard things other builders will not, with excellence in every detail.
Relational. We choose relationships over transactions, with our clients, our trade partners, and our team.
Discover Our Partners
We believe exceptional results come from deep longstanding partnerships. Over the years, we’ve built lasting relationships with some of the region’s most respected architects, subcontractors, and designers, each chosen for their craftsmanship, reliability, and shared commitment to excellence.
